Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta hosted a notable seminar titled “Fatwa and Drama” at its booth during the Cairo International Book Fair. The event featured His Eminence the Grand Mufti, Dr. Nazir Mohamed Ayyad; Dr. Ali Gomaa, a member of the Council of Senior Scholars; and acclaimed actor Mohamed Sobhi. The seminar delved into the intersection of religion and art, focusing on the role of drama in shaping societal awareness and promoting ethical values. Dr. Nazir Ayyad stressed the need for media content that upholds moral principles, urging collaboration between religious scholars and artists to reinforce societal identity. Dr. Ali Gomaa highlighted Islamic heritage as a rich source of inspiration for drama and emphasized enhancing the synergy between fatwa and drama to benefit society. Actor Mohamed Sobhi underscored the importance of drama as a medium for conveying meaningful messages while preserving moral standards. He warned against productions that encourage negative behaviors and called for creating family-friendly content that strengthens ethical values. The seminar drew significant audience engagement, underscoring the importance of fostering trust between religion and art and developing narratives that uphold and serve societal values.
